- How best to help my child prepare for the PSLE?
- What is full subject-based banding and how will my child be affected?
Mr Sng will give parents an overview of the PSLE scoring system and share how parents can better support their children for the examination. He will explain about full subject-based banding and how students will benefit when it is fully rolled out in 2024.
ST’s senior education correspondent Sandra Davie will moderate the session.

What are the strategies that will make a difference?
Pick up tips from experts in either Maths (Session A) or English (Session B).
Session A – Proven approaches to ace PSLE Maths
Mathematics expert Dr Yeap Ban Har, a former National Institute of Education (NIE) lecturer and textbook author, will share strategies on how to do well in the PSLE Mathematics examination, sharing proven approaches that will make a difference.
Session B – Strategies to score for PSLE English
Ms Alexandra Wilson, a senior teacher from the British Council, will guide parents on how they can help their children prepare for PSLE English. The session will cover tips on how to do well for various components of the exam, including oral, listening comprehension, and written papers.

Using current affairs to elevate writing skills
In a 75-minute workshop, pupils will learn to write impactful compositions by exploring ST stories that focus on descriptive and narrative writing. They will be taught techniques to make their writing stand out and be guided in their writing during the session. The workshop will be conducted by Ms Debra Ann Francisco, The Straits Times’ News-in-Education Specialist, who taught English and Literature in MOE schools for more than 14 years.
