Taste the Best of Japan in Singapore with Master Chef Okuda
This May, get ready to experience the pinnacle of Japanese cuisine, paired with some of the best sake from Yamagata prefecture. Sake Samurai and master chef Masayuki Okuda will present his nine-night-only (May 12 to 21, closed on May 15) omakase dinner at Element, a restaurant-bar located at the lobby level of Amara Singapore.
Mr Okuda is no stranger to the culinary scene and has been a longstanding champion of Japanese cuisine. He is well known as the owner-chef of Al-che-cciano in Tsuruoka city, Yamagata, where he pioneered the concept of farm-to-table dining in 2000, working with ingredients from the Unesco City of Gastronomy. Tsuruoka was designated the title in 2014.
In the international food scene, Mr Okuda was an executive chef for Japan Night 2012 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and was recently awarded a Terroir Award by French restaurant guidebook Gault & Millau last month.
Master chef Okuda is the pioneer of Ginza Olion Sushi, which is specially made with select oils and salts sourced from all over the world. His omakase dinner will showcase this exclusive technique perfected by him over the decades.
